Keeping the Winter Blues out of Your Relationship

February 10, 2012

10 ideas for making this Valentine’s Day fiery red

Winter has ways to make us blue: driving on snow and ice, missing the sunlight, being cooped up inside all the time. But Valentine’s Day provides couples with a well-timed chance to break free from the regular bleakness of the winter blues. Here is a list of ten ideas that will hopefully get your creative juices flowing in case you still don’t have plans for Valentine’s Day.

  1. Serve breakfast in bed – Male or female everyone loves waking up to a home cooked meal.
  2. Give a massage – Just because we all survived the holidays doesn’t mean your partner isn’t still carrying around stress.
  3. Call and ask them out for a date – If you want to relive the excitement of being a dating couple then pretend you are still a dating couple.
  4. Go to a museum and hold hands – Young or old, newlywed or forty-year marriage veterans, you should never be afraid to show the world that you still love your partner.
  5. Text a love note – Guys, it is the little things that can make a day really special.
  6. Propose…again – Let her know that if you could, you would marry her all over again.
  7. Dance – Get your heart pumping, your body loosened up and enjoy your favorite songs
  8. Go for a Hike – Many area parks are open year round. See what nature looks like in the off season.
  9. Play spin the bottle/hide and go seek – you’re never too old when you’re in love.
  10. Sit out under the stars – It may get cold but that’s just an excuse to be closer together.

Bonus: Write and sing a love song! – If you’re truly brave, you won’t let creative or vocal shortcomings prevent you from showing your undying love!

Guys, you’re welcome! Use as many or as few as you’d like. Gals, don’t forget to surprise your man too! And don’t expect the world from him on Valentine’s Day… that’s what your birthday is for 😉
